Ermansile Adelson died peacefully at home on October 16, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old.
Her life was long and full of trials. Hardships found her more than once and she met them with unwavering resolve. Some would have crushed a lesser spirit. She endured them and did what was best for her children, laying her pride aside time-and-again for their sake.
In Haiti, she started a food service business to feed her family and became well known for it. She never turned away anyone in need of a meal, however little they had to give. She kept food aside for those who could not afford to pay. After coming to the United States, she worked as a babysitter and saved what she earned for relatives in financial need.
That was who she was: a giver. People often took from her. She gave anyway and never let it change her.
Kindness and strength seldom live in the same person, but they lived in her.
Faith was the center of her days. She loved the Lord with all her heart and sought to honor Him in everything she did. She cherished her church community and worshiped with joy, singing hymns proudly from her room, often with more heart than pitch. She also loved to dance. She danced at every party and could not help but move when music came on. And of course, she had all the right moves.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She wanted them near her always and told anyone who would listen of their accomplishments.
She is survived by her children Yvon Adelson, Marie Chantalle Adelson and Marie France Brunot; eight grandchildren Louigunks Joseph, Stapha Charleme, Francia Toussaint, Alexander Adelson, Harolde Adelson, Gaelle Adelson, Tatiana Joseph and Johanne Pierre; eight great-grandchildren Wynter Surlin, Isabelle Waelder, Miles Adelson, Redjina Joseph, Beelaenssa Joseph, Lourdjine Joseph, Anne Lynsay and Jaylen Baptiste; and her sister Tessie Adelson. She was preceded in death by her son Hector Joseph, her grandson Dimmy Joseph and eleven of her sisters.
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.”
Matthew 25:21
Rest in peace, Ermansile Adelson.
