Milton "Mitch" Roman, born Mayaguez in Puerto Rico on June 25, 1957, passed away on March 14, 2025, at Northwell LIJ Hospital in New York at the age of 67.
Milton was the beloved son of Americo Roman and Marcia Aponte. He is survived by his sister, Mercedes, and his brothers, Edgar and Fred. He was a devoted husband to Eva, with whom he shared nearly 26 wonderful years of marriage. A loving father, he leaves behind his sons Jonathan, Beck, and Nicholas, and his daughter Jessica. He was also a proud grandfather to Alexander and Constantine and a dog dad to Lucky and Scooter.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Milton served his country with honor in the army for 20 years and continued a new career with the MTA for nearly 27 years. He had recently entered into retirement and was looking forward to the next chapter of his life.
Milton was known for his outspoken nature, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to his family. A natural jokester, he had a way of bringing laughter into any room. He went above and beyond to protect and provide for those he loved. He had a deep appreciation for music of all kinds and enjoyed watching Korean dramas. A passionate sports fan, he proudly supported the New York Giants and the New York Mets.
Family and friends are invited to honor his life at an open service on Wednesday, March 19, at Elmont Funeral Home in Elmont, New York. There will be two viewings: Afternoon from 2-4pm and Evening from 7-9pm.
Milton will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his strength, humor, love, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
