In Loving Memory of Yasmin “Smallie”

Yasmin affectionately known as Smallie was a woman of quiet faith, deep compassion and unwavering kindness. She was born on January 15th, 1942, in Trinidad and Tobago and carried a strong spiritual foundation that guided her throughout her life. When she immigrated to New York City in 1968, with only $20 in her pocket. She arrived not only with hope for herself but with a heart that would one day uplift countless others. She was Companion to Pony (Ramsamooj Singh).

Smallie believed that her blessings were meant to be shared. Throughout her life she helped many people along the way, especially those navigating the difficult journey of immigrating to the United States. Whether offering guidance, encouragement, a place to stay or simply a listening ear she gave freely and without expectation. Too many times, she was more than a helper, she was a protector, a source of comfort and an angel on earth sent to ease burdens and open doors.

She dedicated nearly 30 years of her professional life as a Special Events Administrator at AXA Equitable Life Assurance where her diligence, grace and reliability were deeply respected. Her work was an extension of whom she was organized, thoughtful and always centered in service to others.

Yasmin was first and foremost a devoted mother to her three children Sahira, Salima and Zaid. She raised them with love, discipline, faith and strength, always leading by example. As a grandmother to Justin and Carl. She found renewed joy, pride and purpose cherishing every moment spent with them.

In the face of unimaginable sorrow Yasmin endured the unexpected loss of her beloved daughter Salima on July 4th, 2025. Even in grief her faith remained steady and her spirit gentle, reminding all who knew her of the power of grace, resilience and trust in God’s greater plan.

Yasmin lived a life of service, love and spiritual devotion. Her legacy is written not only in her family but in the many lives she touched, guided and uplifted. Though she has returned to her creator her light remains present in every act of kindness she inspired and every soul she helped along the way.

She will be forever remembered, deeply loved and eternally at peace.
